About SMMTA

The St. Maarten Marine Trades Association, founded in 1994 promotes the island of St. Maarten as the premier destination in the Caribbean for visiting yachts of all sizes. The infrastructure created by the private sector, the island's tax free status and excellent communications have all played an important part in helping St. Maarten become the "Yachting Capital" of the Caribbean. The island's many gourmet restaurants, exciting nightlife and exceptional beaches attract crew and guests alike, year after year. The island's international airport, the Princess Juliana International Airport is the second busiest airport in the North Eastern Caribbean, in terms of aircraft movement, behind San Juan, Puerto Rico, making St. Maarten an easy destination to get to from practically anywhere in the world.
We have developed world class facilities and services geared to the growing demand of the marine industry.
The St. Maarten Marine Trades Association (SMMTA) is the voice of the local marine industry and includes a government consultation committee to ensure all issues of the island's infrastructure are addressed. Our members welcome the opportunity to meet the demands of a quality oriented market dictating tight schedules and tighter logistics. The association's membership, both from the Dutch and the French side of the island, represents major names in the marine industry and delivers the finest world class quality service available.
The association's office is located at the Portofino Marina Village in Simpson Bay and is open to anyone who has questions pertaining to the association, the local marine industry and its members.
